Blackmagic Design Sound Cards & Media Devices Driver

Blackmagic Design Sound Cards & Media Devices Driver

Hey everybody.
First, I want to thank @c3r1c3 and @Dilaz from the IRC chat, who tried to help me with this problem.
However, I think there's no recourse but to have either the developers or others take a peek and help. :(
Thank you for all your help--maybe this will help another person down the line? :)

The 'Blackmagic Firmware Updater' enables the users to update the firmware of the connected capture cards. Log in to Linux Desktop. Go to Applications Sound & Video Blackmagic Firmware Updater. Update Blackmagic Software, if it is not up-to-date. Restart Userful host. Step 2: Configure Blackmagic Desktop Video Setup. Welcome to the Blackmagic Design support center. Here you will find the latest software updates, support notes, instruction manuals and all kinds of helpful information. If you need extra help, then please go to our community forum and connect with the incredible experience of the television industry. Blackmagic Media Express software comes free with every DeckLink card. Media Express lets you batch capture and playback 2D or even dual stream stereoscopic 3D in uncompressed YUV 4:2:2 and RGB 4:4:4 QuickTime, AVI and DPX, or compressed ProRes, DVCPRO and MJPEG files. DeckLink cards also include Blackmagic LiveKey and Blackmagic Disk Speed Test.

Description:
  • Blackmagic Design creates the world’s highest quality products for the feature film, post and broadcast industries including URSA cameras, DaVinci Resolve and ATEM switchers.
  • Sound Devices actually sells their own-branded SD cards and recommends people use them in their recorders (I assume they're rebranded cards from other manufacturers, but still). That could be another solution: BMD-branded SD cards certified to work in specific products.
I have two Blackmagic cards installed in PCI-express 1x slots on my ASUS M4N72-E.
I have a NVidia GEForce 9800 GTK+ in a 16x slot. This card is in the 9 series (Not the 900 series.)
Though the cards work in BlackMagic Media Express, they do not display video in OBS nor VLC!

I've tried updating my graphics drivers to ones provided by NVidia and not ASUS, but the drivers erased my second Blackmagic card! :( See which drivers I am currently on, below.
I can't explain why I am getting this black screen. My OBS settings for Blackmagic seem to reset, and I can't guarantee that they are always set to my camcorder's resolution, which is 1080i 59.94, I believe.

Drivers
This computer just came from a fresh install, so here's a list of driver installations, in order:
  • Windows 7, Professional
  • Windows Update to Current
  • OBS
  • BlackMagic Video Drivers
  • ASUS M4N72-E Chipset Drivers
When I tried the latest NVidia drivers, they erased my BlackMagic intensity from recognition. Not trying THAT again! :(
I am on DirectX 11.
Previous Attempts
I've tried.
  • Using either Decklink and WDM Capture
  • Swapping which HDMI ports I'm using
  • Using Decklink with ANY input video settings,
  • Using Decklink with the HDMI input settings ((They are on SDI by default.))
  • Using all four capture devices, simultaneously
  • Using only 'Decklink' Capture devices simultaneously
  • Using 'Preserve source video' and not
  • Trying to view the device in VLC Player! [[The timestamp seems correct, but VLC perpetually tries to 'catch up']]
Window Capture works fine. :(

If a developer needs access to this machine, I can set that up through Remote Assistance or whatever. :)Design

This page describes the options and settings exposed on Blackmagic Media Framework objects.

Blackmagic

Supported Blackmagic Cards

The Blackmagic Media Source and Blackmagic Media Output have been tested with the following cards:

  • DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G

  • DeckLink Duo 2

  • DeckLink 8K Pro

Other devices may or may not work as expected.

Blackmagic Media Source Settings

Each Blackmagic Media Source object that you create exposes the following configuration settings.

Blackmagic Design Media Express Software

Timecode Texel Encoding .

When this option is enabled, the Unreal Engine does not generate any new frames of output until the Blackmagic card is ready to accept the new frame. The effect is similar to genlock, but instead of locking the Unreal Engine's frame rate to an input signal, it locks the Engine's frame rate to the output timing of the Blackmagic card.

This option is most useful when you don't already have an input signal that you can lock the Unreal Engine's frame rate to, but you want to ensure that the Engine is producing only one output frame for every frame in the output video feed.

Do not enable this option if you already have the Unreal Engine genlocked to an input feed using a custom time step.
